Making and Decorating a Bulletin Board
Decorating a bulletin board is a great craft for teens or college students. A bulletin board does not have to look dull or boring, you can jazz it up using a few simple items you probably already have lying around your house.
Bulletin boards are essential for anyone looking to organize their things. You can post your bills, and other important documents so you can make sure they are not forgotten or lost.
Bulletin boards can also easily be decorated to fit into the overall theme of your home, apartment or dorm room.
Here are some supplies that you will need before you begin decorating your board:
1. Ribbon- Of any kind, or design.
2. Paint- Whatever you think matches your design.
3. Fabric- This is also your decision. You can choose whatever fabric you would like, just make sure it can cover the bulletin board completely.
4. Buttons- any kind, all shapes and sizes
5. Painters tape- to keep paint from getting on the inside of your board.
Once you have purchased just the right sized bulletin board for you, you can begin making it all your own. You have the freedom to express yourself however you would like. Here is one idea that we came up with to make your board incredibly unique.
Using painters tape, tape along the inside of the bulletin board leaving the wooden frame open. Paint the frame however you like and wait for it to dry completely.
Once the board is dry, you can cover the quark with any type of fabric that fits into your decor. Leave the wooden edges open and glue the fabric along the inside edges of the wooden frame.
Next, make a zigzag pattern across your board with the ribbon that you have chosen. To hold the different angles in your ribbon, you can glue buttons in place. The ribbon is great for holding envelopes or other things you don not necessarily want to pin down.
You may also glue a fabric pouch somewhere on your board. The pouch will serve the purpose of holding miscellaneous things like; pins, letters, papers, or pens.
Another great idea for your bulletin board could be to paint it entirely. Have fun with it- if you are artistically talented, paint a funky design or just spray paint the entire thing. Make sure you do this outside or in an area that can tolerate little paint splatters, spills and drips.
The main thing to remember is this project is yours to mark all your own. Let your personality shine through as you demonstrate your creativity by designing your own board.
You will most definitely have all your friends asking where your bought yours or can you make them one of their own.
