Indianapolis 500 Tickets - Ganassi’s Two Indy 500 Winners

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The Indy Racing League (IRL) will harbor 22 drivers for the start of this year’s IndyCar Series. Of these 22, big names like Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon, Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti will all be back for yet another round of frenzied open wheel racing, but several of racing’s biggest names have recently undergone turbulent swaps and changes galore, with 10 of the league’s 22 drivers jumping into cars with different teams than last year and two drivers making their debuts onto the IndyCar scene.

Seat swapping has been the name of the game in this year’s racing offseason, and several very important changes have been made during the last few weeks and months that are sure to make a difference in the balance of this year’s racing season. Among the biggest team changes to occur between the 2008 and 2009 seasons (aside from Will Power temporarily taking the place of Helio Castroneves for Team Penske) a chain reaction brought Dario Franchitti back from a failed attempt at NASCAR, taking Dan Wheldon’s place with Target Chip Ganassi Racing. Wheldon then took Vitor Meira’s spot with Panther Racing, and Meira subsequently replaced Darren Manning at A.J. Foyt Racing, while Manning scrambled to pick up a slot with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing this past weekend.

While this huge chain reaction has affected much of the IndyCar realm, the team it has most affected is Ganassi Racing, which by far got the best deal out of the league’s seat swapping. Ganassi now holds the powerhouse combination of Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti as teammates, and both of these IRL superstars are expected to soar high over the field of IndyCar participants this season. Dixon, the reigning Indianapolis 500 winner and series champion, is looking to make the 2009 season a two-peat, while Franchitti is welcomed back into the IndyCar circle as the 2007 Indy 500 winner and fellow series champ. This Ganassi Racing dynamic duo is heating up the racing scene already, as this marks the first time in IRL history that two drivers who have won both the Indy 500 and an IndyCar series championship will be teammates.

Now that Franchitti and Dixon are teammates instead of rivals, racing fans can expect a significant amount of friendly competition to amount in the 2009 season. The entire racing realm is looking to the Indy 500 to determine which will be the better of the Ganassi pair, as this coveted race is a telltale sign of how the rest of the series will unfold. This year’s Indianapolis 500 is set to commence on May 24, 2009, giving Dario Franchitti some time to shake off dust and Scott Dixon some time to gain speed before going into the prestigious race. Indianapolis 500 tickets are still available online, so get tickets today and get dialed into the Target Chip Ganassi Racing domination that may very well take over the IndyCar realm with the ladies and gentlemen starting their engines in the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500.

Driving Experience Days At Silverstone-The Home Of Formula 1

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

The Silverstone racing track has come a long way since it’s early years. Originally a an airfield used during the second world war near a small village with the same name. After 1945 and the end of the war, Britain had quiet a few airfields that no longer served any military purpose.

At the same time, the only real racing track in Britain, the Donington Park, was left as a storage depot for military vehicles. The others including Crystal Palace, Brooklands and Brands Hatch were either sold or in bad maintenance or simply not up to date.

Then the Royal Automobile Club took an interest in Silverstone and gave an offer for a lease to the Air Ministry. Despite the fact that the center of Silverstone was being used to grow crops, Silverstone was turned into a racing track in short time. In the fifties Silverstone became the birthplace of what was later to become the Formula 1 circuit.

Fast forward to the next millennium and Silverstone remains one of the worlds premier racing tracks. Since 2003 Silverstone has made vast improvements on their infrastructure, now with a lead in road 4 lanes wide to accomodate the vast crowds which go to watch the Grand Prix races.

Today, you don’t actually have to be Formula 1 racing driver to be able to race on the Silverstone circuit. It is possible for you to try the experience of driving a single seater racing car around the historical track purely for recreational purposes.

Driving a single seater F1 style car is not like any other kind of motor racing. Drivers are completely in the open, in a cockpit with thier legs straight out into the front of the car. They have the wheel in front of their chest and change gears with a gear stick which is positioned between their legs!

The racing car is so low, drivers are literally only a few inches above ground. Every bump and slight disturbance in the road can be felt in their body and they have to fight over steering in corners, as the car responds to the tiny motions made on the steering wheel. There is only the drivers, the track and their cars.

Single seater driving experiences always begin with an essential half hour of safety instruction and briefing. Drivers are given full explaination the car’s functions and steering mechanisms so that they are not too surprised once they press the gas and get pushed back into their seat.

To ensure safety practice laps behind a professionally driven car is imperative to learn the correct driving lanes and bends. All participating drivers will be rewarded with a certificate of a job well done at the end of their exhilarating recreational driving experience.

Driving experience days such as this becomes even more fun, when you are at a historic track like Silverstone and driving a real racing car. Beware, after this days practice you may find yourself wanting more, a lot more!

Dressing Venues For A Perfect Party

Monday, April 6th, 2009

For an unusual and unique event, choosing a venue with a twist can make all the difference. What any host wants is to give the guests an experience they’ll never forget. For the perfect party it takes a mix of entertainment, decoration and facilities to provide a party that will be the talk of the decade. This article takes a look at some of the more unusual venues available for hire and how you could make them the perfect party paradise.

Location is obviously paramount when choosing possible venues, but if you are holding a really big event for a charity ball for example, central city areas offer great access and have plenty of places that guests can stay once the fat lady sings. The Victoria and Albert museum in central London is one such venue available for hire, and the mix of opulent atmosphere and stunning decor is a great setting for a prestigious event.

If this is going to stretch the budget a bit too far, then hiring out a regular venue and getting an events company to create a themed installation is an option. Themes such as James Bond, Tropical and Royal are amongst many that add spark to a venue. Event organisers can transform a mediocre venue into a really great one, and this type of party gives your guests plenty to talk about and really lifts the atmosphere.

Some venues offer a hospitality service and are more than happy to arrange music, dance floors and venue dressing on your behalf. To give your party a personal theme, it is a good idea to check out local talent on the music and entertainment scene. Balloon modelling and magical tricks for children can be mixed with entertainment for adults in the form of stand up comedy or cabaret.

The key to putting on a good party is organisation. Ensure that you have a comprehensive list to stick to and draw up a tight schedule to follow. Ultimately, don’t be afraid to delegate. Although they say that too many cooks can spoil the broth; they also say that two heads are better than one. By having help with arranging an event, it allows you to get on with the most important as aspect of the lot… being the host with the most. If you want your guests to remember you as the ultimate party host, you need to pay as much attention to your presence as you do to picking the right venue.
